# Referrals

> Earn a share of your referrals' trading volume on Burst.

Referrals let you earn a share of your referrals' trading volume.

Payouts happen automatically on every trade.

Rewards come from the `0.600%` protocol fee generated by that volume.

## How it works

1. Share your referral link.
2. A referred user trades on Burst.
3. Burst collects the `0.600%` protocol fee.
4. Your tier determines what share of that fee you receive.
5. Your reward is paid automatically on each trade.

## Reward formula

`Referral reward = Trading volume × 0.600% × your tier %`

That can also be expressed as a direct share of volume.

A `15%` share of the `0.600%` protocol fee equals `0.09%` of trading volume.

## Referral tiers

| Tier | Referrals | Earn of protocol fee | Equivalent of volume |
| ---- | --------- | -------------------: | -------------------: |
| 1    | `1–4`     |                 `5%` |              `0.03%` |
| 2    | `5–19`    |                 `8%` |             `0.048%` |
| 3    | `20–49`   |                `12%` |             `0.072%` |
| 4    | `50+`     |                `15%` |              `0.09%` |

## Example payout

If your referrals generate `$5,000,000` in trading volume and you are at Tier 3:

* Protocol fee at `0.600%` = `$30,000`
* Your cut at `12%` = `$3,600`
* Effective earnings rate = `0.072%` of volume

## Top-tier example

If your referrals generate `$12,000,000` in trading volume and you are at Tier 4:

* Protocol fee at `0.600%` = `$72,000`
* Your cut at `15%` = `$10,800`
* Effective earnings rate = `0.09%` of volume

## Summary

The more referred volume you drive, the more you earn.

Higher tiers increase your share of the protocol fee.

At the top tier, you earn `0.09%` of referred trading volume automatically.
